These fruits can enter Japan, but supply that meets the Japanese programme is limited. We confirm supply and requirements with you before the first lot.

What Japan requires

• Only fruits that Japan has opened for Vietnam can be imported. Fruits not on the list, such as limes, passion fruit, pomelo, guava or rambutan, cannot enter Japan fresh.
• Dragon fruit: registered orchards and packing houses, and vapour heat treatment of every lot at a facility approved by Japan. The treatment is shown on the phytosanitary certificate.
• Longan: cold treatment under the Japan export programme, from registered orchards and packing houses.
• Bananas are shipped green (unripe), as Japan requires.
• Phytosanitary certificate for every lot, issued by Vietnam's plant protection authority.
• Pesticide residues must meet Japan's Positive List System. We test residues on each lot and send the report with the documents.
• Import notification by the importer under Japan's Food Sanitation Act, at the quarantine station of the port of entry. We send document copies in advance.
• Certificate of Origin under the Japan–Vietnam agreement (VJEPA) or the ASEAN–Japan agreement (AJCEP), so that the reduced import duty can be claimed.
• Labels: Japanese text can be printed on the cartons on request, as agreed in the sales contract. Please confirm import duty with your customs broker.

Seasons and peak demand

• All year: banana, dragon fruit, coconut.
• Seasonal: longan is confirmed with each quotation.
• Demand rises for the summer Obon holidays in mid-August and for the year-end gift season in December. Please tell us your shipping week early.

Other fruits that Japan accepts from Vietnam, such as mango and lychee, are quoted on request. Ask us and we will check supply and the current requirements.
